What is a Computer?

A computer is an electronic device. The name computer came from "Compute". Which means it process the numbers. Computer can be used to browse the internet, entertainment,to make software, applications, edit videos and more.

Personal Computer(Desktop Model)

Do you know that computer is everywhere. You are using a mobile device to read this and surf the internet, your mobile device has computing power to do that.By using computer you can play games.

What are the basic components of a PC?

PC stands for Personal Computer.  Computer has some sort of Hardware and Software.
If you look the inside of your CPU case you can find

1.CPU
2.Motherboard
3.Buses (Cables)
4.Hard disk
5.CD/DVD Drives
6.RAM
7.SMPS  and
8.More

1.CPU

The name CPU stands for Central Processing Unit.It is also called as the brain of the computer or Micro-Processor.
Central Processing Unit

Without CPU you can't run your computer.
CPU contains two major blocks inside it.
They are

1.ALU
2.Control Unit

ALU means Arithmetic Logic Unit. It performs arithmetic operations as well as logical operations.Arithmetic operations like Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc. And also logical operations like AND,OR,NOT,etc.

Control Unit is used to control the I/O (Input/Output) devices. I/O devices are used to communicate with the computer with the external world.

2.Mother Board

Computer Mother board

Mother board is also called as circuit board. It consists of I/O ports,VGA (Visual Display Unit) ports,HDMI ports,PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) slots,RAM slots, Printer ports and etc..

3.Buses

Buses are used to transfer data between processor and other parts.

4.Hard Disk

Hard Disk Drive

Hard disk is used to storing the data. When you install OS(Operating System), it stores in Hard-disk. Hard disk has slower data speed compare with RAM,but it has more capacitive to store the data than RAM.

5.CD/DVD

CD/DVD Writer

CD (Compact Disk)/DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) these are used to import from the CD/DVD's. A typical CD can holds up to 750 MB and DVD holds up to 4GB data.

6.RAM

Random Access Memory Stick

RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is used load the programs from the HDD(Hard Disk Drive). Operating System always stores in Hard disk. When we turn ON the computer first BIOS (Basic Input Output System) can be loaded then the OS loads into the RAM,then we can see windows loading... We have two types of RAMs. They are
1.Static RAM
2.Dynamic RAM.

Again we have DDR2 and DDR3
DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2.

SMPS

It stands for "Switched Mode Power Supply". It will supply power to the whole system. It has different voltage pins.
