BIOS : Basic Input/Output System

BIOS is an acronym for Basic Input/Output System. It can be used to start up a computer system.A BIOS chip can be put on your motherboard to load/store computer software.It is a first program run on your computer.BIOS allow you to turn on your system and select your operating systems.BIOS can control computer hardware.

You can determine the current BIOS version by using commands.

BIOS commands for Windows:

MSINFO or msinfor32
DXDIAG or dxdiag

By using Above commands you can check all these things shown below


We can save our BIOS settings with the help CMOS ( Complementary Metal Oxide Semi-conductor) battery,when the power interrupted to the mother board. CMOS is a small battery,it supplies power to the BIOS memory to save current BIOS settings,so we don't need to set BIOS settings if power interrupted. CMOS provides little bit back up.
