What is a driver?

A driver is software it allows your computer to communicate with hardware or peripheral devices. Without drivers you cannot communicate with your computer properly. Sometimes it works but it does not work. A driver tells your computer to what it does. For example, Graphic card or Video card. It will not work properly without drivers.


Most probably drivers come with Operating System (OS), in windows you can find them by moving to windows update in control panel and checking for windows updates. If windows don’t have the drivers you need, it checks the drivers that came with your hardware. Otherwise you can find them on manufactures website.

Finally we understood that driver is important software. Our operating system contains some of the drivers integrated inside. While installing operating system it checks our hardware and it installs supported drivers.

The name itself(driver) suggests that it is a driver to drive it.
