When to use passive voice

1.When we don't know the subject

Example:          

My purse has been stolen
We don't know  that who has stolen it.
The girl was murdered.

        We don't know that who killed her.

2.Doer is not important

When we don't want to give important to the subject or doer( Who does the action )

Ex:

We were asked to come regularly.
Two thieves were caught.
Mafia don has been encountered.
Glass articles should be handled carefully.

3.When the subject is obvious/clear

Announcement was given
Thieves were caught
Your asked to wear ID cards

4.People in general or subject

Ex:

Vehicles are not parked properly on the roads
Only three books borrowed by the library.

5.If you want hide the identity of the subject

Ex:

Many complaints were lodged against him.
In-charger warned

6.If you remain anonymous

Civil actions will be taken against offenders
It has been decided to transfer Mr.Reddy

7.If the subject has already been mentioned

EX:

Sir read his letter and he was given permission.
The police-man responded quickly and thieves were caught.
