The Republic of India  is the 7th  largest country in the world.It is the second most populous country.India has coastline of over seven thousand kilometers. It has the Indian Oceans on the south, the Arabian Sea on the West,and the Bay of  Bengal on the East and the great Himalayas on the North.
                     Pakistan,China,Nepal,Bhutan,Bangladesh and Myanmar are the border countries.Indian civilization is called the Indus Valley civilization. Four major world religions in India  are Hinduism,Jainism,Buddhism,Sikhism. The other religions Islam,Christianity,Judaism and Zoroastrianism came later. This is the reason for the variety of culture in India. India became a free country in 1947.
